Week 2 at UCI

Random thoughts and records for week 2 at UCI.

Life falls into routine in week 2. Begin working at 9:30 approximately and come back to dorm at 21:30 or later. I didn’t cook much this week, which just made my life far more easier.

I begin to get familiar with lots of things here: the deep blue sky and the warm bright sunshine, the way to school and albertson, restaurants and food (I just cannot control my love to in N out !!!). And don’t forget one more thing —— the code base. This is the biggest code base I have ever seen. To be honest, I haven’t imagined that I could actually make modification to it one day. Fortunately, my great mentor gave me a good pivot to start. In this week, I did my first coding task. Not that difficult, not that relevant, but the moment to see the result is absolutely encouraging.

I love the style my mentor supervises me. When he gave me a task, he always told that you could try to solve it but I don’t expect you can work it out. He never gives me the pressure that I must finish something. All I have to do is to try my best to think about it. Besides, he nerver reserves encouraging words even if I just ask something or do something which is extraneous in my view.

I always imagine living in a world with no expectation. It is a place where I can live the way I am.
